Doosan SMX 3100

The Doosan SMX 3100 is a high-performance multi-tasking CNC machine designed for complex part machining in a single setup. As part of Doosan’s SMX series, it integrates turning, milling, and drilling into one powerful platform, significantly reducing production time while enhancing precision and efficiency. This mill-turn machine is ideal for high-precision manufacturing, where intricate parts require seamless machining processes.

Equipped with a twin-spindle, twin-turret design, the SMX 3100 allows for simultaneous machining on both the main and sub-spindles. The main spindle features a 12-inch chuck with a 3,000 RPM speed, providing exceptional turning power. The B-axis milling head, capable of 5-axis simultaneous machining, enhances flexibility by allowing cutting at multiple angles, making it well-suited for complex geometries. Its high-speed 12,000 RPM milling spindle further improves performance, ensuring both roughing and finishing operations are performed with precision.

With a large Y-axis travel of ±150mm, the SMX 3100 excels at off-centre milling, drilling, and tapping. The C-axis indexing at 0.001° resolution allows for precise positioning, while the automatic tool changer (ATC) can hold up to eighty tools, ensuring uninterrupted machining and reduced downtime. Built with heavy-duty box guideways, the machine offers superior stability and vibration resistance, extending tool life and maintaining high accuracy during demanding machining processes.

Controlled by Fanuc 31i-B5 CNC systems, the SMX 3100 provides a user-friendly interface, advanced programming capabilities, and real-time monitoring for optimal efficiency.
